Billing information

The Mon Valley Sewage Authority has adopted the following revised Rate Schedule effective November 8, 2021, which will be applicable for the December 2021 bill for Monessen customers and January 2022 bill for Donora customers.

Residential and non-residential customers

The minimum charge will be $153.00 per quarter ($51.00 per month) for 0 – 8,000 gallons of water consumption for residential and non-residential customers. Usage over 8,000 gallons of water consumption will be billed at a cost of $19.13 per thousand gallons.

This new rate structure is necessary to cover the following:

  1. Increased expenditures to repair and/or replace Authority facilities that are 40 years old
  2. Utilization of investment income and revenue account monies for Sewage Disposal System Improvements
  3. Implementation of the Combined Sewer Overflow Long Term Control Plan

In addition to the monthly sewer fee, the Authority collects sewer line maintenance fees on behalf of the jurisdictions. The fees are as follows:

  • Monessen: $27.00
  • Donora: $5.00

Effective May 1, 2020 all sewage customers making a credit card or debit payment over the phone or at the Mon Valley Sewage Authority office will be charged a processing fee. There will be no fees associated with payments made online at the official MonValleySewage.com, check or money order by mail or by automatic withdrawal from your checking account. Additionally, please note that we have no affiliation with the bill payment site doxo.com.

Autopay information

With Autopay, the amount of your monthly bill is automatically withdrawn from your checking account, and the need to write a check is eliminated.

Here is how it works. You authorize Mon Valley Sewage Authority to withdraw from either your checking account an amount not to exceed the current balance on your sewage bill. Mon Valley Sewage Authority will prepare and mail your monthly bill as it always has. The only difference on your bill will be a message indicating that no payment is required because you are now an Autopay customer. Then Mon Valley Sewage Authority will send a request to your bank to transfer the full payment from your account to our account.

If there is a problem with your bill, simply contact Mon Valley Sewage Authority prior to the payment date and we will resolve the problem before the payment is withdrawn.

You can cancel this service at any time. There is no additional charge to be an Autopay customer. It is that simple.

To activate Autopay, complete the enclosed application. Then return the application along with a voided check or deposit slip to Mon Valley Sewage Authority. Depending upon when the application is received, Mon Valley Sewage Authority will begin to automatically withdraw the payment for your next bill.
